Back at the wonderful Guildhall this week for the Bath in Fashion Spring Summer ’12 Collections Catwalk Show. In no time at all the end of the queue had disappeared from sight.
As we headed towards the sweeping staircase we were offered delicious little treats from Hotel Chocolat.
We made our way into the majestic Banqueting Room where the catwalk ran almost the entire length of the room and was seasonally decorated with spring flowers and shrubs.
The show began and it was a real challenge to capture the non-stop parade of Spring and Summer ‘Floral Brights, The Romantic, Polka Dots, The Office, Floral Darks, Monochrome, Colour Bold, The Spring Coat, The Beach, Bejewelled, Party and Evening’ wear.
The models looked even taller with their magnificent quiff-ures by Artizan; striking rockabilly style do’s which made the models look even taller.
Some of my favourites amongst the collections were from Boho, Pretty Eccentric and Noa Noa.
It was also great to see some twenties inspired dresses, probably in anticipation of the release of The Great Gatsby later this year. The 1974 version with Mia Farrow as Daisy filled the pages of Vogue with 1920s frocks and in the eighties we had Chariots of Fire and Brideshead Revisited wafting the 1920s towards fashion (or was that just in my head?)
After the show the audience poured out of the Guildhall, back into the Bath sunshine, and no doubt making a bee-line for the shops whose collections we’d just enjoyed.
Bath in Fashion runs until Sunday 1st April and there’s still plenty to see and do in the next couple of days.
